Tara has been riding since the age of 5, and competing since she was 10. She got her first Arabian when she was about 9, then moved on to several more Arabians, showing in Arabian Region V, and qualifying for US Nationals as a youth. After enrolling at William Woods University (WWU), she took on Prazer OBF as her personal project, showing him in several Arabian circuit shows leading up to Arabian Sporthorse Region V Championship and moving on to Sporthorse Nationals in 2009. That year they won the USEF Half Arabian Top 5 year end award.

She began teaching lessons at a local barn in Washington state when she was 16, moving on to many other opportunities from there. She trained for Krueger Quarter Horses from 2006-2008, then opened her own instruction/ training program for the summers of 2008 and 2009, while attending WWU the balance of those years. She has instructed many different disciplines including hunt seat, western pleasure, saddleseat and more, and ranging in all ages. She has worked with special needs riders and helped host WWU's first Equine Special Olympics.

She accepted her first horse for training when she was 16, and continued to train and finish many horses of various breeds including Arabians, Quarter Horses, Paints, Buckskins, National Show Horses, Andalusians, American Saddlebreds, Morgans and more!

Tara opened Arrowhead Creek Stables (ACS) in 2013 and now teaches a thriving lesson program as well as accepting horses for boarding and training. She is also an adjunct professor in the equestrian program at WWU. ACS students regularly compete at both local fun shows as well as rated shows.
